History of Camp CrossFire

Camp CrossFire, Inc. had its origin in thought in late 1993 and early into 1994. The goal of the original organizers was to provide Christian influence upon elementary, junior high, and high school students in the Central Texas area. Activities planned to accomplish this goal included Christian social, recreational, devotional, and educational activities.
Two area ministers, Richard Williams of Groesbeck and Jay Tyree of Franklin, organized a staff of fifteen Christian men and women to give leadership to the first one-week session of camp. The Group Barracks located at Fort Parker State Park was procured as a camp site. In July, 1994, fifty-five campers attended the opening year of CrossFire. On February 8, 1996, the Camp received a Certificate of Incorporation by the Secretary of State of Texas
Without exception, each Summer following the first session, there have been one or two one-week sessions of “Camp CrossFire” through and including 2019. The location of camp was recently moved from Fort Parker State Park, Mexia, Texas to Three Mountain Retreat, in Clifton, Texas, then to Parrie Haynes Ranch, in Killeen, Texas.
The mission of the camp has remained unchanged since its inception. Camp CrossFire exists for the singular purpose of encouraging, promoting, and supporting Christian influence to youth through social, recreational, devotional, and worship experiences.
